Vinification
The Syrah fruit was harvested on September 26, 2003 at 24.7 brix. The fruit
was fermented in small open top fermenters with skin contact lasting 9
days. Malolactic fermentation was conducted in the barrel. The wine was
aged in 93% French and 7% Hungarian oak barrels for 16 months. The wine
was bottled on February 5, 2005. It is unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes
The 2003 Syrah has a toasty, black cherry aroma. It is nicely balanced with
layered dark fruit creating a warm, lingering finish.
